Jonny Lee Miller is an English-American actor born as Jonathan Lee Miller on 15 November 1972 in Kingston-upon-Thames, Greater London. He was raised in south-west London and inspired by his parents, both theatre actors, and his grandfather, Bernard Lee, to pursue acting. He attended Tiffin School and later joined the National Youth Music Theatre. Miller's breakout roles include Simon "Sick Boy" Williamson in 'Trainspotting' (1996) and Dade Murphy in 'Hackers' (1995). His other acclaimed performances include 'Afterglow' (1997), 'Mansfield Park' (1999), 'Mindhunters' (2004), 'The Flying Scotsman' (2006), and 'T2 Trainspotting' (2017). For 'The Flying Scotsman,' he was nominated for 'Actor of the Year' at the London Film Critics' Circle. Miller also starred in ABC's comedy-drama 'Eli Stone,' receiving a Satellite Award nomination for Best Actor.

Continuing his television career, he starred in BBC's 'Emma' and the fifth season of Showtime's 'Dexter.' His performances in CBS's 'Elementary,' a modern-day rendition of Sherlock Holmes, earned him another Satellite Award nomination. In 2022, he portrayed British Prime Minister John Major in the fifth season of Netflix's 'The Crown.' His film credits also include 'Melinda and Melinda' (2004), 'Dark Shadows' (2012), and 'Byzantium' (2013). Miller has an active career in theatre, with notable performances in 'After Miss Julie' and 'Frankenstein.' He won an Olivier Award for Best Actor for his role in 'Frankenstein.' Off-screen, he is a marathon runner and an advocate for treating and finding a cure for Sanfilippo syndrome.
