Jessie Buckley: Movies, Awards & Box Office

Irish actress and singer Jessie Buckley was born in December 1989 and began her career in 2008, making her mark as a contestant on the BBC TV talent show I'd Do Anything. After her stint on the show where she came in second, Buckley, a Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) graduate, made appearances in several BBC television series such as War & Peace (2016) and Taboo (2017). Her film debut was in Beast (2017), playing the lead role and she had her breakthrough with the musical film Wild Rose (2018), where her performance as an aspiring country music artist earned her a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

In recent years, Buckley's career has seen her taking on roles in the HBO miniseries Chernobyl (2019), I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020), season four of Fargo (2020), The Lost Daughter (2021), Men (2022) and Women Talking (2022). Her performance in The Lost Daughter garnered her BAFTA and Academy Award nominations for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Aside from her screen performances, she also won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in a 2021 West End theatre revival of Cabaret. In the same year, she released a collaborative album with Bernard Butler titled For All Our Days That Tear the Heart, which was shortlisted for the 2022 Mercury Prize. Buckley was also recognized by Forbes in its annual 30 Under 30 list in 2019.
