Jessica Brooke Capshaw, born on August 9, 1976, is an esteemed American actress fondly known for her significant appearances as Jamie Stringer on the ABC legal drama series The Practice, as well as Dr. Arizona Robbins on the highly praised ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Born in Columbia, Missouri, she is recognized as the stepdaughter of the legendary director Steven Spielberg, whom her mother, Kate Capshaw, married when Jessica was just 15. Her academic journey took her from Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles to Brown University, where she showcased her acting abilities in productions of Arcadia and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. She graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and spent her summers honing her acting prowess at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.
