Jennifer Salt: Movies & Box Office

Jennifer Salt, born September 4, 1944, is an American producer, screenwriter, and formerly an actress well known for her role as Eunice Tate on Soap from 1977 to 1981. Born in Los Angeles, California, she is the daughter of screenwriter Waldo Salt and actress Mary Davenport. Her early life was spent honing her acting skills at the High School of Performing Arts in New York City, followed by graduation from Sarah Lawrence College. An important part of her story includes her father's triumphant return to Hollywood after being blacklisted due to a conflict with the House Un-American Activities Committee. Her early career saw her on stage winning a 1971 Theatre World award as Estelle in the play Father's Day. Her movie career began with a role in Midnight Cowboy as Joe Buck's hometown lover, Crazy Annie, followed by the roles in several films directed by Brian De Palma. She has also performed in the TV film Gargoyles with Cornel Wilde and Scott Glenn. Jennifer Salt retired from acting and transitioned into writing, penning scripts for Nip/Tuck and other TV programs. Among her reputed works, she co-wrote the script for the movie Eat Pray Love and was an executive producer on the American Horror Story anthology series. In 2011, she contributed to the pilot for an HBO series based on the memoir Foreign Babes in Beijing by Rachel DeWoskin. In 2006, she earned a Writers Guild of America Award nomination for the Nip/Tuck episode 'Rhea Reynolds'.
