She became prominent due to her collaboration with the Polish film director, Krzysztof Kieślowski, capturing the esteemed 1991 Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for the film 'The Double Life of Veronique'. Her prolific acting credentials also include a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for 'Three Colours: Red' in 1994. Some of her other well-recognized films encompass 'The Secret Garden' (1993), 'Beyond the Clouds' (1995), 'U.S. Marshals' (1998), and 'Eternity' (2016). Irène's craft wasn't limited to the big screen - her impeccable portrayal in theatre captured audiences' hearts as she played the title role in Madame Melville alongside Macaulay Culkin in London's West End in 2000.
