Helena Kallianiotes: Movies & Box Office

Helena Kallianiotes (born March 24, 1938) is a Greek-American film actress, recognized for an impressive career in both film and dancing. From the late 60s, she was a resident belly dancer at The Intersection, a Greek restaurant in North Hollywood. This led to her first film appearance as an uncredited belly dancer in the 1968 film Head, directed by Bob Rafelson and starring The Monkees. She was later cast in another Rafelson film, titled Five Easy Pieces, where she portrayed the neurotic character, Palm Apodaca. In 1973, she earned a nomination for the sought-after Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture for her role as Jackie Burdette in Kansas City Bomber. Other celebrated film roles include her portrayal of the characters Mata Hari in Shanks (1974), Elaine Reavis in The Drowning Pool (1975), and future-reading brothel madam in Nicolas Roeg's Eureka (1983). Beyond her acting experience, she also made an appearance on the cover of Art Garfunkel's 'Breakaway' album in 1975. Maintaining her presence in the Hollywood scene, she opened a private members-only club, Helena's, in Los Angeles in 1985, further solidifying her influence in the entertainment industry.
