Glenn Martin Christopher Francis Quinn was an Irish actor whose career, though brief, left a lasting impression on 1990s American television. Born on 28 May 1970 in Dublin, Ireland, Quinn grew up in the Cabinteely suburb and attended Clonkeen College before moving to Los Angeles at age eighteen with his mother and two sisters. His father, Murty Quinn, was a celebrated musician with the Miami Showband, providing a creative household that nurtured Glenn’s early interest in performance. After arriving in the United States, Quinn quickly entered the entertainment industry, appearing in Pepsi and Ray‑Ban commercials and landing a small speaking role in the pilot of Beverly Hills, 90210 after a rigorous audition process. In 1991 he secured his first major film role in the musical Shout, sharing the screen with John Travolta and Heather Graham, and even shared an on‑screen kiss with Gwyneth Paltrow in her debut film.

Quinn’s breakout television role came in 1990 when he was cast as Mark Healy, Becky Conner’s boyfriend‑turned‑husband on the iconic sitcom Roseanne. He remained a regular through the series’ ninth season, earning a reputation for his authentic Irish charm despite adopting an American accent for the role. In 1999 he returned to his roots by portraying the half‑demon Allen Francis Doyle on Angel, where creator Joss Whedon allowed him to use his natural Irish accent, a decision Quinn described as “putting on an old pair of shoes” that revived his soul. His final film appearance was in the dark comedy R.S.V.P. (2002). Tragically, Quinn’s promising career was cut short when he died of an accidental drug overdose on 3 December 2002 at the age of 32.
