Francesco Clemente Giuseppe Sparanero also professionally known as Franco Nero is an esteemed Italian actor. He gained worldwide recognition and fame for his outstanding portrayal of the title character in the Spaghetti Western film Django (1966). This film not only made him a popular culture icon but also launched his international career that includes numerous leading and supporting roles in a diverse variety of films and television productions. Nero actively took part in the famous Italian 'genre trends' during the 1960s and 1970s, featuring prominently in gialli, polizieschi, and Spaghetti Westerns. Some of his best-known films include The Bible: In the Beginning... (1966), Camelot (1967), and The Day of the Owl (1968), among others. His extensive acting career was not limited to Italy and he has appeared in English-language films such as Die Hard 2 (1990), Enter the Ninja (1981), and Force 10 from Navarone (1978). He also wrote, produced, and starred in Jonathan degli orsi (1993). Nero's name has been linked with famous actresses including Catherine Deneuve, Goldie Hawn, and Ursula Andress in the 1970s. Beyond these romantic links, Nero's life was not void of controversy. A paternity suit was filed against him back in 1987 claiming that he fathered a child after a brief romantic affair. Nero also had a second son, Frank Sparanero, with Danica Pevec.
