Donald A. Losby, Jr. (born May 26, 1951) is an American actor whose career, though relatively brief, left a notable footprint on the golden age of American television. Born in San Francisco, California, Losby began his acting career as a child, appearing in various productions throughout the 1950s and continuing into the 1970s. He became particularly well-known for his numerous character roles in popular television programs of the era, frequently portraying youthful characters such as someone's son or younger brother. Among the many iconic series he appeared in were The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, The Andy Griffith Show, The Twilight Zone, Wagon Train, Bonanza, Rawhide, Route 66, The Fugitive, Ben Casey, Lassie, My Three Sons, Gunsmoke, Daniel Boone, Blue Light, Lost in Space, and The Young Rebels. In addition to his extensive television work, Losby also appeared in a handful of feature films, including The Mating Game alongside the legendary Debbie Reynolds, where he played a supporting role. One interesting footnote in his career came in 1963, when he co-starred in an unsold pilot for a proposed comedy series titled Grand Slam, which centered around a sports columnist, played by Murray Hamilton, who could not resist getting involved in other people's problems. Losby's final acting role came in support of the short-lived 1970 television series Headmaster, a vehicle for Andy Griffith that also featured Jerry Van Dyke. Despite the brevity of his time in the industry, his appearances in some of the most beloved shows in American television history have cemented his place as a recognizable face of the era.
