Dinara Drukarova is a Soviet‑born Russian actress and film director whose career has spanned more than three decades, beginning with her debut in the 1989 Soviet drama It Was Near Sea. Born on 3 January 1976 in Leningrad, Russian SFSR, she split her childhood between the cultural milieu of the former USSR and the evolving artistic circles of post‑Soviet Russia, a duality that later defined her trans‑national professional life. After gaining early attention with the 1990 Cannes‑winning short Don’t Move, Die and Rise Again!, she appeared in a series of modest Russian productions before turning to French cinema with the 1996 film Le Fils de Gascogne, a move that marked the start of her strong ties to France, where she now spends half the year and holds citizenship alongside her Russian nationality. Her performance as Lisa in the controversial cult film Of Freaks and Men (1998) earned her a nomination for Best European Actress at the European Film Awards and secured features in leading French magazines such as Elle, Premiere and Vogue. In 1998 she also served on the jury of the Strasbourg European Film Festival, demonstrating her growing influence within the European film community.
