Claude Brasseur, born as Claude Pierre Espinasse on 15th June 1936 was a renowned French actor. He was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine to actor Pierre Brasseur and actress Odette Joyeux, making his entry into the world of acting almost inevitable. His godfather was none other than Ernest Hemingway, further enriching his life and career with literary and dramatic atmosphere. Brasseur was not only an actor but was a quite impressive sportsman, being a member of the French bobsleigh team during the 1960s and a winner of Paris-Dakar rally as a co-pilot of Jacky Ickx. In a career extending from the late 1950s to almost two years before his death in 2020, Brasseur left an indelible mark in the world of cinema and television with over 150 productions. One of his memorable film roles was Arthur in Jean-Luc Godard's Bande à part (1964), and he played the title role in the early 1970s historical crime television series The New Adventures of Vidocq. His role as the father in the comedies La Boum (1980) and La Boum 2 (1982) received commercial acclaim. He passed away at the age of 84 in Paris and is buried beside his father at Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.
