Clara Lago Grau is a Spanish actress who rose to prominence after her debut as a child voice talent in the 2000 film Miserable Life. Born on 6 March 1990 in the suburban town of Torrelodones, within the Community of Madrid, she entered the entertainment industry at the age of ten, subsequently appearing in the popular television series Compañeros. Her breakthrough came with the 2002 drama Carol's Journey, directed by Imanol Uribe, for which she earned a Goya Award nomination for Best New Actress, marking her as one of the most promising young performers of her generation. The following years saw Lago receiving the 'Best New Talent in Spanish Cinema' award from L’Oréal at the 56th San Sebastián Film Festival in 2008, further cementing her reputation. In 2011 she was honoured with the Shooting Stars Award by the ICAA and the European Film Academy at the Berlin International Film Festival, a recognition reserved for actors destined for international success, thanks to her nuanced work in The Hidden Face.
