Claire Holt (born Claire Rhiannon Holt on 11 June 1988) is an Australian‑American actress who first captured international audiences with her role as Emma Gilbert in the Australian teen series H2O: Just Add Water (2006–2008). Raised in Brisbane by parents Geoffrey and Ann, she began modeling for local brands before landing the lead in the water‑centric drama, a part that earned her a Logie Award nomination and introduced her to a global fan base. After the second season she transitioned to film, appearing in the straight‑to‑DVD sequel Messengers 2: The Scarecrow (2009), and swiftly relocated to the United States where she continued to expand her repertoire. Her breakout in the U.S. came in 2011 when she was cast as the stylish and fierce vampire Rebekah Mikaelson on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries.
