Chris Niosi: Movies & Box Office

Christopher Edwin Niosi, better known online as Kirbopher, was born on December 31 1988 in Northport, New York, and grew up on Long Island. He pursued visual storytelling at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he honed his skills in illustration and motion graphics. In 2004, Niosi launched his first animations on Newgrounds, quickly gaining a following for Nintendo‑centric parodies such as the viral “Rawest Forest,” a Super Mario RPG‑inspired music video that spread across Newgrounds, YouTube, and Nico Nico Douga. His early professional break came with Eduware, where he contributed character design, animation, and voice work. Over the next decade he broadened his résumé, animating for indie titles like A Hat in Time, Skullgirls, and Cryamore. Niosi also created the ambitious web series Terrain of Magical Expertise (TOME), a self‑produced saga that debuted on Newgrounds in 2011 and eventually expanded into a crowdfunded video‑game adaptation released on Steam in 2021.

Parallel to his animation career, Niosi cultivated a reputation as a versatile voice actor. His first professional gig arrived in 2009 as Khoury in the Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl: Galactic Battles mini‑series. He later voiced notable characters such as Lord Uroko in Nagi‑Asu: A Lull in the Sea, Arataka Reigen in the English dub of Mob Psycho 100, and Pegasus in Viz Media’s Sailor Moon SuperS. Niosi’s work extended to video games, lending his voice to Dezel in Tales of Zestiria, Therion and Mattias in Octopath Traveler, and multiple roles in Monster Hunter Rise and River City Girls 2. In 2016 he became a regular on Cartoon Network’s OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, which led to SAG‑AFTRA membership. Niosi publicly disclosed his diagnosis of Asperger syndrome and his move to Los Angeles in 2014 to pursue animation full‑time. Controversial moments include a 2019 admission of emotional and sexual misconduct, which resulted in recasting of his roles in Fire Emblem titles, and a brief 2024 casting in Honkai: Star Rail that he later stepped down from after fan backlash.
