Brigitte Roüan (born 28 September 1946 in Toulon, France) is a celebrated French actress, screenwriter, and film director whose career spans over five decades. Orphaned at the age of six, she spent formative years in Algeria and Senegal before being sent to a convent school in Paris at twelve, experiences that later infused her work with a nuanced sense of displacement and cultural memory.
