Barbara "Barbie" Seppe Ferreira is an American actress and model born on December 14, 1996, in Spanish Harlem, Manhattan, New York City. Raised primarily by her mother, aunt, and grandmother alongside her Brazilian heritage, Ferreira spent her childhood in Queens, New York, before relocating to Maywood, New Jersey, where she attended Hackensack High School. Her entry into the fashion industry began as a teenager when she submitted her photos to an American Apparel open casting call, launching her career as a plus-size model. She quickly became a prominent figure in the body positivity movement, gaining widespread recognition in 2016 when unretouched photos and video interviews from her Aerie campaign went viral. This breakthrough led to her inclusion in Time magazine's 2016 "30 Most Influential Teens" list, solidifying her status as a cultural influencer.
