Baboucarr Alieu Ceesay, known as Babou Ceesay, is a prominent British actor, recognized for his compelling role in the series 'Guerrilla'. He also garnered attention for his performance as the main antagonist 'Pilgrim' in the third season of the AMC TV series 'Into the Badlands'. Born in 1979 in London, England, Ceesay spent much of his childhood in West Africa while also embracing his Gambian roots. He pursued studies at Oxford School of Drama and took on numerous significant roles on stage over the years, such as 'The Overwhelming' opposite Andrew Garfield and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Before entirely dedicating himself to acting, Ceesay studied Microbiology at Imperial College London, and worked as an internal auditor at the prestigious accounting firm, Deloitte. His acting career took off with his first major role in the horror/comedy film 'Severance'. He has demonstrated his acting prowess in diverse roles in multiple British TV shows like 'Silent Witness', 'Law & Order: UK', 'Casualty', 'Strike Back', 'Luther', 'Getting On' and 'Lewis'. Ceesay's filmography also includes performances in the Nigerian movie, 'Half of a Yellow Sun', and in NBC's TV drama, 'A.D. The Bible Continues'. He evidences an impressive return to TV with his role in 'National Treasure' as Jerome Sharp, and a captivating portrayal of a father in the BBC One television movie 'Damilola, Our Loved Boy', earning him a BAFTA nomination.
