Aura Garrido Sánchez was born on 29 May 1989 in Madrid, Spain, to a culturally rich family; her father Tomás Garrido is a noted composer and orchestra conductor, while her mother María del Pilar Sánchez pursues a career as a painter. From the age of four she began piano lessons, and shortly thereafter she entered a rigorous ballet program, experiences that cultivated a disciplined artistic sensibility. A close English‑speaking childhood friend gave her functional fluency in English, a skill she later credited for easing international collaborations. After completing secondary education, she enrolled at the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático in Madrid, focusing on textual interpretation; however, she left the institution in 2010 when she secured the role of Lucía in Plans for Tomorrow, a performance that earned her the Silver Biznaga for Best Supporting Actress and a nomination for the Goya Award for Best New Actress.

The following year, Garrido landed her first leading television role in La pecera de Eva on Telecinco, establishing her presence on the small screen.
