Andi Osho, born Yewande Morenike Osho on 27 January 1973 in Plaistow, East London to Nigerian parents, first entered the entertainment world behind the scenes, working in television production before discovering a passion for performance. After a stint as a receptionist by day, she honed her comedic voice in the evenings, eventually making her acting debut in 2003. By 2006 she had added stand‑up comedy to her repertoire, a discipline that sharpened her timing and presence. Her early stage work includes the title role of Medea at Barons Court Theatre (2005) and Alma in Dael Orlandersmith’s Yellowman at Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre (2006), where critics praised her raw emotional depth. These performances laid the groundwork for a versatile career that would span theatre, television, film and writing. On television Osho quickly became a recognizable face, portraying Lin Colvin in Casualty, Adeola Brooker in Doctors, and Dr Rogers in Footballers' Wives: Extra Time, among numerous guest spots on EastEnders, Waking the Dead and the comedy panel show @midnight. Her comedic talent earned her the 2007 Nivea Funny Women award and a regular spot on Stand Up for the Week. As a writer she co‑founded the London writers’ collective Vowel Movement, penned the BBC Three sketch CSI: Nigeria and co‑devised the fringe piece Up the Café de Paris. In film she has appeared as social worker Emma Glover in David F. Sandberg’s Lights Out and the blockbuster Shazam!, while recent TV work includes a haunting turn as journalist Gail Vella in the sixth series of Line of Duty. In 2021 she published her debut novel Asking for a Friend, further cementing her status as a multi‑disciplinary creator. Throughout her career Osho has remained dedicated to charity, winning £7,000 for a good cause on The Chase and participating in Comic Relief events, demonstrating a blend of artistic ambition and social responsibility.
