Aimee Lou Wood (born 3 February 1994) is an English actress and writer who has swiftly risen from stage productions to international streaming fame. Born in Stockport, Greater Manchester and raised in Bramhall, she is the daughter of a Childline employee mother and a car‑dealer father, and has a sister, makeup artist Emily Wood. After her parents' divorce, she attended Cheadle Hulme School, completed a foundation course at the Oxford School of Drama, and earned a BA in Acting from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2017. Wood began her professional career in 2016 with a debut as a handmaiden in Mary Stuart at the Almeida Theatre, later touring the UK as Laura in People, Places and Things.

Her breakthrough came in 2019 when she was cast as Aimee Gibbs in Netflix’s Sex Education, a role she secured after originally auditioning for a different character. The series garnered critical acclaim, and Wood’s performance earned her the BAFTA Television Award for Best Female Comedy Performance in 2021, with a further nomination the following year. Parallel to her screen success, she continued stage work, appearing as Sonya in Uncle Vanya (recorded during the COVID‑19 pandemic) and starring in Cabaret (2023). Wood expanded into film with notable roles in The Electrical Life of Louis Wain (2021) and the lead in Living (2022), and she joined the cast of HBO’s The White Lotus for its third season, earning an Emmy nomination.
