Zulfiqar Ahmed, Prosenjit Chatterjee, is the godfather of a powerful citywide Syndicate, a shadowy force that quietly dictates much of what happens in the heart of the city. At his side stands Basheer Khan, Kaushik Sen, a nationalist-leaning gangster who remains fiercely loyal yet increasingly wary of where Zulfiqar’s ambitions lead. Tony Braganza, Parambrata Chatterjee, runs the money and the papers, the logistical brain behind the operation, while Markaz Ali, Dev, provides the sheer force and grit that keeps the machine moving. This quartet forms a tense balance of power, where every decision carries risks and every alliance hides another layer of motive.

The Syndicate’s web is threaded with more than money and muscle. Karishma Ahmed, Paoli Dam, is Zulfiqar’s wife, yet their marriage sits beside a private, dangerous truth: Zulfiqar’s long-running extramarital affair with Rani Talapatra, Nusrat Jahan, a moneylender who owns the Blue Nile Bar and harbors a complicated love for Markaz that he seems reluctant to echo in return. Kashinath Kundu, Jisshu Sengupta, is the schemer in the room, always chasing greater power and sowing doubt to bend Basheer to his will. The Syndicate’s tentacles extend into government and police alike, touching figures like Kaushik Sinha, Tribhuban Gupta, and Laltu Das, each a part of a corrupt machinery that barely disguises its own fragility beneath bravado.

As internal tensions mount, Basheer is convinced, with Kashinath’s whispers, that Zulfiqar sheltered terrorists who arrived in West Bengal. The fear and rage push Basheer toward a fateful choice: remove Zulfiqar from the board. The plan is hatched on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr, a day meant for celebration but turning into a staged ritual of betrayal. Karishma’s nightmares about an impending danger nag at her, trying to pull Zulfiqar away from the streets, yet he insists on staying close to the center of power. Danish, a loyal Syndicate member, escorts Zulfiqar out as the others swirl with their plots, while Tribhuban Gupta uses the gathering to push a broader mandate for action—one that would erase Zulfiqar’s influence.

In the deadly confrontation, a cascade of bullets erupts. Sharafat Qasim fires at Zulfiqar from behind, and others—Kashinath, Sinha, Danish, Shishir Tili—join in to end Zulfiqar’s rule once and for all. Laltu Das and Pavel Lateef slip away, spared by Basheer’s hesitation to shed innocent blood. The fall of Zulfiqar ignites a brutal aftermath: Tony and Markaz, along with Zulfiqar’s nephew Akhtar Ahmed, Laltu, Rani, Pavel, and Tony’s trusted aide Chenno Bablu, vanish into the shadows to reckon with the consequences. Basheer, left to mourn and to justify, returns to a crowd hungry for clarity at Zulfiqar’s funeral. He delivers an oration that initially seems to defend the conspirators, but Tony and Markaz respond with a barbed, cunning eloquence that redirects public emotion and spurs a massive gang war.

As the city boils, the loyalists and conspirators collide in skirmishes and ambushes, with pivotal losses that reshape the balance of power. Pavel and Mithilesh die, Danish is mortally wounded, and a whispered revelation from Danish reframes Basheer’s understanding of Kashinath’s role, exposing a hidden kinship and a web of deceit that stretches back to Pariza Khan’s past. The climactic hand-to-hand clash between Basheer and Kashinath ends with both men dead, and Zulfiqar’s ghost returns in a final, spectral affirmation that the truth will surface in due time.

The story’s epilogue shifts to the rising ambition of Akhtar Ahmed, the nephew of Zulfiqar and a new player in the shadows. Markaz’s fragile, evolving relationship with Rani and Tony’s marriage to Albeena, Kyra Dutt, signal the dissolution of the Syndicate’s old order. With the old guard toppled, Akhtar begins a cold, calculated consolidation of power, manipulating Markaz and Rani to push them toward self-destruction, and turning his sights on dismantling Basheer’s legacy. He eliminates every obstacle in his path, guiding the remnants of the old networks to suicide or dissolution, and systematically removes Tony, Chheno Bablu, and others to assert his own grip over the sprawling criminal landscape, ultimately becoming the new, all-powerful gangster of the area once ruled by the Syndicate.

In this world where loyalty is a currency and fear a constant co-conspirator, every alliance is tested, every signal misread, and every victory followed by another, more perilous challenge. The final balance rests on who can keep the ghosts of the past in check long enough to shape a future where power remains both personal and impersonal, and where the memory of Zulfiqar Ahmed lingers as a warning and a testament to a city that can never fully escape the shadow of its most influential crime lord.
