In the town of Seabrook, where werewolves, humans and zombies live in peace, the story unfolds during the senior year at Seabrook High. Addison has just earned an invitation to Mountain College, while Zed pursues an athletic scholarship there, hoping to join her. The calm is disrupted on the night before a highly anticipated football game, a game that could see Seabrook win and finally recruit a zombie/monster into college, breaking down old boundaries for all the school’s unusual residents.

A bright, unsettling alien presence arrives: three leaders—A-Lan, A-Li, and A-Spen—who descend from a ship and set their sights on an interstellar map to a new home, called Utopia. They claim to be here for the National Cheer Off, a cover that lets them blend in with Seabrook’s familiar routines and add an edge to their real mission, all while a chilling sense of secrecy circles the town. Their apparent purpose hinges on locating a map that can only be found in the most precious thing in Seabrook, a clue that sets the whole town on edge.

As the aliens settle in, Zed and Addison confront a tricky obstacle: the aliens’ mind-searching devices, known as Luma Lenses, probe the memories of the werewolves. The alien plan is bold, and they quickly outpace Zed both academically and athletically, threatening the chance of him earning a scholarship. In response, Addison seeks help from Eliza, who interns at Z-Corp, the company behind the Z-bands, and together they navigate a web of deception and hidden loyalties.

The trio of aliens becomes entwined with Addison’s life in unexpected ways. A-Spen reveals a personal connection to Zed, confessing love and complicating the already tense dynamic between humans, monsters and visitors. At cheer practice, the newcomers’ presence casts a pall over the team, and an improvised attempt at scouting turns dangerous when the aliens are nearly discovered. When the aliens retreat to their mothership, Zed uses his intimate knowledge of Seabrook to help them, and Addison is accidentally beamed aboard, stepping into a perilous space between two worlds.

As the truth behind the aliens’ visit comes into sharper focus, Addison discovers a larger family history: her maternal grandmother Angie appears as a pivotal but hidden figure in the scout’s logs, revealing secrets that tie the town’s past to this impossible journey. The story pivots on a race against time as Zed learns of a crucial chance to alter the course of events—by securing a way to enter the alien ship and stop their plan, or watch as Addison’s gift becomes the key to their departure.

The stakes rise when the Seabrook Cup, crafted from materials from the aliens’ home world, becomes central to the map’s location. Addison realizes that either she or the aliens will determine the future of Utopia, and the pressure mounts as the other team is disqualified at the Cheer Off. In a dramatic showdown, the Seabrook Mighty Shrimp emerge victorious, and the town’s fate tilts toward a new era of coexistence—one that might hinge on Addison’s heritage and the mysterious map encoded in her DNA.

The climactic confrontation unfolds as the werewolves crash the cheer pavilion, exposing the aliens’ real plan. Addison and the others escape just in time, and she finally reveals to the town her alien heritage. Zed’s own future becomes entwined with hers when his college news collides with the aliens’ mission, and the coordinates to Utopia are found embedded in Addison’s DNA. The aliens realize the map is not a distant destination but a revelation about Earth itself.

In a gutsy move, the aliens attempt to depart with Addison, yet Zed’s bravery and some last-ditch power from the moonstone channeling through Z-Bands buys them a fragile window of escape. He sacrifices a moment of danger to ensure Addison and the ship don’t vanish into space forever, and the two share a final kiss before he is returned to Earth as the ship spirals away into hyperspace.

Days later, in a world that has shifted without Addison, the group celebrates graduation, while the aliens decrypt Addison’s DNA to reveal the map’s coordinates. The revelation is startling: Earth was Utopia all along, aligning with Addison’s belief that their home should be this shared planet. The aliens return to Seabrook, joining a growing community of monsters and creatures—vampires, merfolk and many more—who now call the town home.

As the credits roll, a final image hints at new journeys: Bucky boards the mothership and activates it, signaling a broader, galaxy-spanning purpose to bring cheer to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.
