Fifty years ago in the conformist, planned town of Seabrook, a catastrophic accident at the Seabrook Power Plant triggered a drastic split: half the population transformed into brain-eating, mindless zombies, while the remaining residents built a wall to quarantine them in a place called Zombietown. In response, the government issued Z-Bands—bracelets that emit electromagnetic pulses to curb the zombies’ cravings for brains—hoping to keep the peace without erasing the undead. Today, zombie students from Zombietown transfer to Seabrook High, where suburban life is built on uniform routines, traditions, and pep rallies. The zombies at the school are watched over by Dale, whose daughter Addison and his nephew Bucky are stalwarts of the cheerleading squad.

Among the zombie students, Piston Raj stands out, navigating the high school landscape with a mix of grit and charm as he tries to fit into a world that still treats him as an anomaly. Addison’s life takes a turn when she begins a clandestine romance with Zed, a remarkable zombie on the football team whose uncanny talent seems tied to the fact that his Z-Band has been hacked by Eliza, one of his zombie friends. The relationship remains largely hidden from most of the school and staff, known only to Zed’s inner circle—Eliza and Bonzo. Meanwhile, Bucky, who leads the cheer squad, resents Zed’s growing popularity and does everything he can to keep Addison from meeting him.

Addison is drawn into a zombie party in Zombietown, where she shares a private moment with Zed in a place known as the zombie park. Just as their moment heats up, the Zombie Patrol crashes the event and takes Addison home. At Seabrook, Dale and Missy—the mayor—learn that Addison has a crush on someone from the other side but misjudge the situation, urging caution without realizing the crush is a zombie. The next day, Zed appears at Addison’s doorstep in a human guise, and the two go on a date. He admits he’s been tampering with his Z-Band, while Addison emphasizes that change must come from within both of them, not from external gadgets.

The homecoming game becomes a flashpoint when Bucky discovers Zed’s Z-Band manipulation and his followers Stacey, Tracey, and Lacey steal Eliza’s laptop to hack the Z-Bands. The plan succeeds, transforming Zed, Eliza, and Bonzo into “full zombies” who are then hauled away by the Zombie Patrol. In the game, most cheerleaders rally to support the zombies, and Addison publicly challenges the crowd’s perception of Zed as a monster, a moment that culminates in Addison shedding her wig to reveal her natural white hair—a bold stand against Seabrook’s rigid norms, much to her parents’ chagrin.

With the atmosphere shifted, Bucky’s team struggles as their numbers dwindle. As the cheer competition approaches, Eliza and her friends reconsider their actions and resist sabotaging the event for revenge. Meanwhile, Zoey, Zed’s younger sister, steps in to help, and with guidance from Addison and Zed, the zombies and the human cheerleaders join forces to create a unified routine. What begins as a division of two worlds gradually becomes a collaborative, cross-town moment of reconciliation as the combined team takes the field and, in a spirit of acceptance, performs together.

In the end, the town’s divisions soften as both communities come together for a celebratory block party in Zombietown, signaling a new chapter where differences are acknowledged and unity is celebrated.
