The premise of Zero without spoilers.

Two men enlist in the Japanese air force just before World II, recruited by the test pilot of Japan’s new super‑fighter, the Mitsubishi Zero. The narrative runs backward, told by the recruit who fails pilot training and joins the ground crew. From his view, the film follows the Zero’s full history—from prototype trials to wartime combat.
