Kishan Singh, a wealthy widower, drafts a will that lays out a stark division of his ancestral property: equal shares for his two sons, Gajjan and Dulla, while Shravan, Gajjan’s son, is designated to inherit the farm. This arrangement sows immediate bitterness in Dulla, who, enraged at not receiving everything for his own sons, confronts his father. The confrontation spirals into tragedy when Kishan is murdered. Dulla is captured and jailed, and his sons are left in the care of Gajjan, setting up a generational rift that will haunt everyone involved.
Years pass, and Shravan falls in love with Paramjit, known as Paro, Smita Patil, and the couple marries. The peace is short-lived, however, as Dulla is released and quickly re-enters the family’s life, plotting to reclaim what he believes is rightfully his. He enlists the help of his own sons, Thade and Dara, and hatches a plan to secure the land by any means necessary. A jealous admirer of Paro becomes an unwitting pawn in a scheme that will alter the fates of all involved, culminating in Shravan’s murder in a village visit. The killer is set ablaze by Thade and Dara to erase any trace of Dulla’s involvement.
Paro is suddenly bereaved and terrified when Dulla insists on a brutal solution to the inheritance problem: Paro would be wed to Dulla’s mentally challenged son, Chhote, so that the land would remain within the family. The proposal is met with fierce resistance from Gajjan and Paro herself, who understands that the only way to safeguard Shravan’s legacy is to create a legitimate heir. Paro proposes that Gajjan remarry, presenting his younger sister Shibo as a potential wife. Shibo, torn by love for Binder, initially resists, but her loyalty to Paro wins out. She marries Gajjan and bears a son, giving Paro a renewed sense of hope for Shravan’s land. Paro treats the child as her own, knowing that a rightful heir now protects the family’s future.
Yet the battle for the inheritance heats up once more. Dulla and his sons ambush Gajjan and murder him, then press their murderous campaign against the family’s home, aiming to eliminate the newborn heir. Paro stands firm to shield the baby, and Shibo seeks Binder’s help as well. With the support of the villagers, they repel Dulla’s goons. Chhote is electrocuted in a botched attempt to seize the baby, while Thade is killed by the villagers. Dara dies after being struck by a volley of bullets fired by his father in a moment of rage. With his own heirs erased, a deranged Dulla turns his fury on the baby, determined to claim the land he could not inherit. Paro intervenes in a final, selfless act and defeats Dulla, sacrificing herself to save the child.
As Paro dies, she asks for forgiveness from Shibo and Binder, entrusting them with the care of the infant and the family’s ancestral land. The story closes on a somber note, with the surviving couple accepting their new role in safeguarding Shravan’s heritage and honoring Paro’s final sacrifice.
