In late 1915, during World War I’s second half, Serbia faces its greatest crisis as Austro‑Hungarian, German and Bulgarian forces overwhelm the country. The Serbian army and government retreat to the only free region in Kosovo, then cross harsh Albania to reach Allied ships on the Mediterranean, fighting to defend every road, hill and creek.
