Two young high school teachers, Anuja and Neha, are assigned to collect population data for the census, a routine task that quickly spirals into a tense struggle for survival. Their journey leads them to a deserted house where they meet a pregnant woman, Prerna, who says there are four people living there: her, her grandmother, an old man, and a cook named Bhola. When asked about her baby’s fate, Prerna reveals a grim and chilling truth: after birth, all newborns cry briefly before dying, and she has learned to expect this cruel pattern as a cruel reality of the house. The claim unsettles the two teachers, but their skepticism keeps them moving—at least for a moment.

As rain pounds the area, the pair decides to return, sensing that something is dangerously wrong. They seek shelter in Prerna’s home for the night. From a window, one of them notices the old man slipping toward a small shed, a clue that is quickly swallowed by doubt and fear. Meanwhile, Bhola overhears them speaking on a phone about their location, and he exchanges a whispered, intimate exchange with the old man, whom he addresses as “bhayya” though their exact relationship remains unclear. The sense of danger intensifies as the women attempt to flee in the dark.

Inside the house, the tension escalates. The women discover a bloodied man chained in the shed, a grim sight that confirms their worst fears. With their phones missing, they realize they are cut off from any obvious route to safety. The next day, they try to leave, but the old man’s quiet nod to the grandmother signals that they never truly had a chance to escape. The grandmother informs him they had ventured out in the middle of the night, and the two women are suddenly seized by the old man and held captive in his basement. What follows is a brutal night of fear, control, and an attempt to survive as the women endure coercion and physical danger.

The pair manage a desperate escape through a tunnel and split up in the forest. A brother comes to search for them, only to be attacked, while a man who had come to the house after hearing a baby crying in the shed is killed as well. The nightmare resumes when Anuja and Neha are captured again and separated—Bhola and the old man take turns keeping them imprisoned in different rooms. Neha suffers a rape, and she attempts suicide in the wake of the trauma. Meanwhile, Anuja uses the moment of confusion to escape, setting fire to one of the huts. The blaze enrages the old man, who orders Bhola to kill Anuja. She fights back, stabbing Bhola, and leaves him to be devoured by wolves in the forest, a stark act of survival and vengeance.

Neha eventually receives help from Prerna and escapes as well, and the true horror of the situation comes into sharper focus: the old man is Prerna’s father. He has sexually abused Prerna for years, manipulating her into obedience and repeatedly causing pregnancies. The grandmother, it seems, has accepted this grim dynamic. The two women, though gravely injured, manage to escape once more, while Anuja returns to confront the house’s horrors and to end the old man’s tyranny. Together, they succeed in killing him, and Neha kills the grandmother with a sickle as Prerna watches in a haunting, silent witness.

As the credits roll, the film reveals a painful history that spans two decades: Prerna has given birth eight times, seven of which were killed by her father, with one stillborn. The father and Bhola are responsible for the deaths of more than thirteen people, and Bhola itself assaults nine. The very first victim cited is Savitri, Prerna’s mother, whose memory hangs over the house like a warning and a reminder of the violence bred within its walls.

Throughout this harrowing tale, the tension is built not merely on fear, but on the slow uncovering of a family’s dark past and the resilience of those who refuse to be consumed by it. The narrative moves between moments of claustrophobic danger and bursts of hard-won courage, always maintaining a steady, neutral gaze at the consequences of abuse, captivity, and the long shadow cast by a predatory history. The result is a grim, unflinching look at how trauma and oppression can echo through generations, and how, in the end, endurance and cooperation can propel survivors toward a fragile form of justice.
