An inquisitive alien from the planet X-47 named Kreton arrives on Earth driven by a fascination with human life and a rebel curiosity that even his teacher would rather discourage. He repeatedly defies that rule as he returns to observe people, and on his latest trip the teacher reluctantly allows him to stay and study firsthand. Kreton soon finds a home among a suburban family, keeping his alien status a secret while he forges a surprising friendship with his hosts and their circle. He grows closer to the family’s daughter, and a quiet, forbidden longing begins to bloom within him, even as an invisible force field around him blocks any real physical touch. In this world, affection is something his race has long since abolished, adding a bittersweet tension to every gesture and interaction.
