Murugan, Vishnu Vishal, is the loyal right-hand man to the local MLA Jacket Janakiraman, Robo Shankar. During a large mass-marriage function organized by Jacket, eight grooms and a bride out of the 25 couples to be married vanish, a clever move by Jacket’s archenemy, MLA Marudhamuthu, [aadukalam-naren]. Murugan manages to recover seven grooms and a bride, but one groom remains missing, and the pressure to preserve Jacket’s reputation grows heavier. To mend the situation, Murugan’s ally Sakkarai, [Soori], is pressed into service to pretend to marry Pushpa, [Reshma Pasupuleti], a village favorite and item girl who is already betrothed to Hamsavali. A misstep quickly follows: a tabloid photo showing Sakkarai and Pushpa’s allegedly real wedding goes viral, forcing Hamsavali to demand a divorce if Sakkarai won’t end things with Pushpa.
To untangle the mess, Sakkarai asks Pushpa to sign the divorce papers, but she refuses unless Jacket is brought before her and orders are given. Pushpa even moves into Sakkarai’s home, complicating matters further. In the meantime, Murugan falls for Archana, [Nikki Galrani], the daughter of a restaurateur who dreams of becoming a police officer. Archana’s father learns of Murugan’s ties to Jacket and asks for a large bribe—₹10 lakhs—to help his daughter secure a sub-inspector job, while insisting that Archana never learn of the arrangement. He also pleads for discretion, hoping Archana can pursue the job honestly.
Jacket himself visits Minister Shanmugasundaram, [Vittal], who lies on his deathbed and reveals that he has illegally accumulated ₹5 billion and wants it used for a worthy purpose. Jacket’s brother-in-law Bhootham, [Ravi Mariya], is hungry for the money as well, and a chase through the streets ends in a brutal accident that leaves Jacket with amnesia, behaving like a ten-year-old boy. Archana eventually lands the job on merit, but her father’s trust is shaken; she orders Murugan to return the money, threatening imprisonment if he does not comply.
Murugan and Sakkarai discover Jacket’s condition, manage to discharge him from the hospital, and attempt a plan: make Jacket confess to Archana that he received the money, and persuade Pushpa to sign the divorce—thereby solving both couples’ problems. The plan backfires, however, when Jacket blurts out the truth to Pushpa, who realizes Jacket has memory loss and refuses to sign the divorce papers. In the ensuing chaos, Jacket is kidnapped again by Bhootham and his crew, and Murugan is arrested at the scene when Archana arrives.
At Bhootham’s hideout, Jacket’s childish antics enrage the villain, who beats him into unconsciousness. He soon regains his memory, much to Bhootham’s relief, and begins recounting the day’s events in a looping narrative that stops and restarts whenever he’s interrupted. Murugan and Archana arrive, forcing Jacket to finish the confession in front of Archana, revealing that he did receive the money, but that the bribe to DGP Sathasivam was refused, so the funds were diverted to a contractor. Jacket also confirms that Pushpa was coaxed to sign the divorce, and he reveals the money’s location: an abandoned mansion called Noor Mahal.
A climactic confrontation gathers Murugan, Archana, Sakkarai, Jacket, Bhootham, and Marudhamuthu at Noor Mahal. A fierce fight erupts, the money is seized, and the bad guys fall to a spectral intervention as the Noor Mahal ghosts close in. In the aftermath, Murugan and Archana begin a romance, while Sakkarai’s planned marriage to Hamsavali is set for another mass wedding orchestrated by Jacket. Just as the ceremony is about to proceed, the priest asks if Sakkarai is Pushpa’s husband, and he blurts out yes, causing Hamsavali to halt the wedding. In parallel, the villains have transformed into ghosts and have joined the spectral ranks led by Ghost ‘Mottai’ Guru, [Rajendran].
