Manish, Bodhisattva Mazumdar wrestles with resentment as Sarojini’s star rises, and he takes on the upbringing of their only daughter, Aditi, while she remains absorbed in performances.

Aditi’s prospective husband, Sudip, Prosenjit Chatterjee dumps her after his family learns of her mother’s profession, just as the public ceremony shines a light on Sarojini’s achievement. Heartbreak drives Aditi toward a desperate choice, and she contemplates suicide, a crisis that forces the two women into a long, candid conversation.
