The film unfolds in the icy tundra of North America, where two devoted researchers, Roman and Lucy, navigate both their passionate relationship and the harsh wilderness. As they engage in playful banter while ice-fishing, Lucy teases Roman about his poor catch, provoking a candid discussion about music. Roman shares his admiration for a haunting Gil Scott-Heron song, expressing his belief that “the spirits are your parents,” hinting at a deeper connection between them and the universe around them. He muses that if people just listened to themselves, they might hear the messages being sent to them.
