Benton, NY - Halloween 2015 - An unsuspecting Halloween party takes a dark turn when Patrick ‘Trick’ Weaver, donned in a chilling jack-o-lantern mask, brutally slaughters several of his high school peers. The host of the party, Cheryl Winston, courageously intervenes, stabbing Trick in the abdomen with a fireplace poker, stopping the chaos momentarily. However, amidst the turmoil, football captain Troy Meeks claims credit for subduing Trick, while Nicky Taylor, Cheryl’s close friend, manages to escape the deadly encounter.

In the aftermath, Sheriff Lisa Jayne and Detective Mike Denver embark on a tense investigation at the hospital where Dr. Steven attends to Trick’s wounds. The situation escalates when Trick escapes his restraints, attacking Mike and causing a massacre among the hospital’s staff as he attempts to flee. In a desperate bid to subdue him, Mike and Lisa fire multiple rounds, only to find Trick plummeting through a window. However, when they reach the ground outside, he has vanished. Len, the EMT on scene, reports that he swerved his ambulance to avoid hitting Trick.

As Mike and Lisa delve deeper into the case, they find that Trick’s true identity and whereabouts remain shrouded in mystery. While Mike suspects that Trick might have survived his fall through some supernatural means, Lisa concludes that he likely drowned in the Hudson River, closing the case for now.

Fast forward to Halloween 2016 in Riverton, NY - a masked figure, this time wearing a white demon mask, embarks on another murderous spree at a costume party. Mike frantically tells Lisa that he suspects Trick has made a horrifying return. By Halloween 2017, Trick has amassed a cult following, with murders occurring in his signature style.

Jumping to October 30th, 2018, during a gathering at a bar, Mike warns fellow FBI agents Sam Swift and Christina Mendez that Trick seems to be escalating his attacks, moving them downstream each year. Brooke, the bartender, presents a theory that a copycat killer could be involved due to the varying DNA found on the masks of the victims. Tragically, Trick captures Swift, decapitating him with a brutal trap set outside the bar. Meanwhile, Mendez also falls prey to Trick, leading to Mike’s dismissal from the FBI due to the incident.

Returning to Benton on October 30th, 2019, Mike is summoned to a grisly crime scene, where deputies discover his name scrawled in blood—a chilling taunt from Trick. Cheryl visits her father in the hospital, only for him to encounter a haunting figure on his TV, leaving him unable to warn her of the lurking danger. As Mike pursues Trick through a graveyard, he narrowly misses capturing him.

As the plot thickens, Trick ensnares Deputy Green, impales her with one of his traps, and further promises to make the lives of those connected to the 2015 party unbearable. With the pressure mounting, Mike investigates Cheryl’s old home, where the horrific party took place, discovering evidence of Trick’s resurgence. While Mike and Lisa are inside, someone steals Mike’s SUV, heightening tensions as they’re about to be confronted by the very ghost of their past.

Cheryl, alongside Nicky and her younger siblings, makes her way to a local church fundraiser where Mr. Talbott entertains guests with a horror film marathon. The atmosphere quickly turns dire when Trick infiltrates the event, disguised and hungry for revenge. He kills several scare actors and viciously stabs Nicky. Amid the panic, Mike heroically rescues Cheryl, Janice, and Greg, sending them to safety while desperately trying to warn others of Trick’s intent to take revenge on Troy.

The horror escalates with Trick’s brutal revelation of his vendetta towards Cheryl and her family. In a frantic race against time, Mike and Lisa manage to locate Cheryl, but Trick’s sinister ploys make escape seem impossible. Just when it appears Trick’s reign of terror will continue, Cheryl manages to fight back, seizing a gun and shooting Trick multiple times before he and Mike are thrown through a window, revealing the true mastermind behind the mask—Smooth Jonny.

The tangled web of Trick’s sick plans unveils itself as phantom accomplices arrive to aid him, blurring the lines between victim and aggressor. Deputy Wan and Deputy Slater, allied with Trick and his criminal organization, reveal a scheme that stretches beyond mere revenge.

Cheryl confronts Trick and, after a harrowing fight, manages to bring him down for good. The chaos culminates in a climactic showdown as she and Lisa confirm Trick is more than just a boy in a mask. They band together with Mike, aiming to untangle the mess of deceit that Trick has created, ready to put an end to the horror that threatens to resurface again.
