Timeless: The Composer/Arranger Series (Arthur Verocai) (2010): Cast

37 years after its release, Arthur Verocai finally conducts his self‑titled 1972 album live. The Rio‑born folk‑jazz composer, known for intricate arrangements for Jorge Ben, Ivan Lins, Leny Andrade and Gal Costa, created a groundbreaking record that sits alongside the string‑heavy work of Charles Stepney, David Axelrod and Frank Zappa. Initially overlooked during Brazil’s military regime, the 2003 re‑issue gained cult status and heavy sampling by artists such as Ludacris and MF Doom. Mixed by Verocai himself, the performance delivers long‑awaited musical justice.
