Julie, Betty Grable is a vibrant singing-and-dancing stage star whose life takes an unexpected turn when she learns that her husband Marty Jack Lemmon is reported missing in action during the Korean War. After a long waiting period, she plans to marry Vernon Gower Champion, Marty’s best friend, and the two exchange vows, beginning a new chapter that seems straightforward and hopeful.
But Marty, who had crashed but survived on a remote island, suddenly reappears at one of Julie’s shows, and his presence upends the arrangement. Julie discovers that she is legally married to both Marty and Vernon, a revelation that throws her life into a complicated double bind.
She wrestles with the choice, the idea of living with two husbands to avoid bigamy, while both Marty and Vernon react with a mix of frustration and jealousy as they confront an unconventional love triangle.
