Three sisters, Valerie Craig, Vicki Craig, and Lorna Craig, are heirs to a $40 million fortune after their father’s death in a Wyoming plane crash, an event that leaves the aircraft’s pilot, Jim Norton, unharmed yet under investigation. With the investigation underway, Jim is unable to fly, and Valerie sees a chance to manipulate the situation for her own ends. Valerie offers him $200,000 to seduce and abandon Lorna, the executor of the will. Lorna is engaged to George Gurney, their father’s attorney.

Jim finds Lorna contemplating a leap from a high cliff into the water, a dare from Valerie to test her resolve. Valerie threatens to frame Jim for murdering her father if he refuses. Then Vicki makes romantic advances, trying to lure Jim away from her sister’s side. Valerie lashes Vicki with a whip, scarring her face. Vicki flees in a car, crashes and is killed.

Jim proposes marriage to Lorna, who is unsure whether she can trust him. Valerie attempts to murder Lorna and stage it to appear as an accident. When her scheme fails, Valerie is killed in a speeding car. Jim goes to the cliff and discovers that Lorna has made the leap. He dives into the water and saves her.

The narrative unfolds with mounting tension and melodrama, exploring themes of greed, loyalty, and the fragility of trust as love, danger, and ambition push the characters toward a dramatic, decisive finale.
