Thirumalai is a rough-looking yet kind-hearted mechanic who leads a calm, close-knit life in the busy lanes of Chennai. He shares a warm bond with his friends and his neighbors, including the couple Selvam and Nagalakshmi, whom he treated almost like family. Despite his intimidating exterior, Thirumalai maintains a simple code of care and respect for those around him, especially the people who depend on him and his generosity. On the edge of this everyday life, a soft attraction starts to bloom when he crosses paths with a woman named Shwetha on New Year’s Day, a moment that quietly shifts the rhythm of his days.

At first, Shwetha rejects any involvement with Thirumalai and even swears to her father, Ashok—the powerful owner of six TV channels—that she doesn’t know him. Undeterred, Thirumalai tries a range of sincere and patient gestures to win her heart, choosing to show rather than tell how much he cares and how deeply his feelings run. This budding romance, however, runs up against the pressure of status and family expectations, a tension that soon pulls in the bigger family dynamics of the city.

The relationship threat comes from a source of influence and fear: Ashok becomes enraged by what he perceives as a breach of class boundaries and enlists Arasu, a menacing gangster, to put an end to Thirumalai’s advances. The danger quickly escalates as Arasu physically targets Thirumalai’s circle—kidnapping his friends and neighbors and using that leverage to threaten him. Thirumalai’s resolve is tested as he confronts the threat with dignity, trying to protect those he cares about while keeping his own spirit intact.

In a tense turn of events, Arasu releases his captives and, glimpsing Thirumalai’s genuine kindness, contemplates reform. Yet this potential reformation is not smooth; it is challenged by Dass, Arasu’s wary assistant, who resists any shift in loyalty and strategy. Dass stirs tensions and mobilizes Arasu’s forces against him, turning the gang’s strength toward a risk-filled confrontation with Thirumalai. Amid the mounting volatility, Thirumalai’s steadfast nature begins to carve a path through the danger, guiding the story toward resolution.

Ultimately, Thirumalai’s steadfast integrity helps diffuse the mounting crisis, and he finds a way to heal the rift with Shwetha. Their reunion also leads to a reckoning for Ashok, who confronts his own mistakes and the consequences of letting pride and status dictate his choices.
