Glyn Nash, a part-time, multi-talented freelancer, saves Hollywood director Erle Dester from a drunken crisis on the street, pulling him back from disaster and getting him home. Dester, grateful but uneasy, makes Nash his personal assistant and chauffeur—an offer Nas haccepts despite the loud warnings and repeated cautions from Dester’s wife, Helen Dester, who makes it clear she distrusts the arrangement and even tries to push Nash away with money.
