What Is The Linnet About?
The premise of The Linnet without spoilers.
Kaziuk, a stubborn peasant, lives with his pregnant wife in an isolated backwoods village untouched by modern life. After a pair of wanderers pass through, odd occurrences begin. A new schoolteacher arrives, awakening erotic thoughts in Kaziuk. In frustration he fells an ancestral tree—a sacrilege to his kin—and later harvests rye with a scythe instead of a sickle, prompting the whole community to condemn him.
