In 1943, amid World War II, French POWs François and Michel break out of Stalag B377 in northern Germany. While fleeing they encounter fellow escapee Pierre, who is disguised in a German officer’s uniform, and he joins their trek. Determined to reach neutral Sweden, they must trek on foot, catch a train to the Baltic coast, and then find a way to cross the sea to safety.
