Wally the Great [Tony Harvey] is an ambitious amateur magician who dreams of winning the Magic Club’s Best Magician prize. He finds himself up against a confident rival, Roland the Remarkable [Dale Burridge], who believes Wally is a nobody and doesn’t shy away from showing it.
At the same time, the well-known Wiggles are in full swing, performing at a nearby school for Dorothy the Dinosaur [Leeanne Ashley]. The four members—lead singer [Greg Page], guitarist [Murray Cook], drummer [Anthony Field], and keyboardist [Jeff Fatt]—bring energy and color to the school’s event, while Mrs. Bingle [Joanne Samuel], the school principal, has a moment with Anthony after she blows a whistle, causing him to act unusually silly. Behind a wall, Wally watches as Dorothy puts Greg Page’s magic wand on a table, clearly upset that her birthday isn’t being openly celebrated. In truth, everyone is quietly preparing a surprise party for her, but the moment is interrupted when the wand is snatched and later broken in half during a playful clash with Wags the Dog and his pups.
The Wiggles, eager to keep Dorothy’s party under wraps, hop into their Big Red Car and begin a quest to find her. Their journey leads them to a spectacle featuring Henry the Octopus [Donna Halloran] and his Underwater Big Band, a whimsical detour that colors their day with music and fantasy. After this, they arrive on Brrrrrrrrrr Street and find themselves momentarily frozen in place, a playful setback as they search for Dorothy. Disheartened, they return to the Wigglehouse while the broken wand lies forgotten for the moment, overshadowed by the day’s chaotic charm.
Meanwhile, Wally’s adventures with Dorothy bring them closer, and their budding friendship becomes a thread that ties the day together. When they visit Captain Feathersword the Friendly Pirate [Paul Paddick], a crew member falls into the water, and Wally dives in to save him, earning a medal with a tiny feathersword embedded on it. Dorothy, though still hurt by the sense that no one remembers her birthday, finds some comfort in Wally’s reassuring words: you shouldn’t be sad on your birthday, because you’re not forgotten.
Wally’s mind drifts to the tales of his great-grandfather, Waldo the Magnificent, who urges him to believe in himself. The moment of truth arrives as the Magic Competition looms closer, but Wally’s focus wavers until Dorothy’s encouragement snaps him back to the task at hand. Jimbo the Juggler [Mic Conway] blocks their path at the registration, insisting that Wally must park his vehicle in the full car park. Wally stays quick on his feet and quips back, “You find a spot,” then tosses his helmet aside, leaving Jimbo momentarily speechless.
With renewed determination, Wally enrolls and crosses paths with Roland again, whose score of 9–9–9 amuses the judges and raises the tension of the contest. Wally discovers his great-grandfather’s old chest of magic supplies, a cache of tools that rekindles his confidence and fuels his performance. As the Wiggles wait for Dorothy to arrive at the birthday party, the clock ticks toward cancellation, but a little hope and persistence keep the plan alive.
The moment of truth arrives as Wally delivers his magic act, and the judges award him a triumphant score of 10–9–9. The crowd’s cheers, tempered by a hint of envy from Roland, mark a memorable victory for Wally. In the end, he escorts Dorothy to what almost becomes a canceled party, and the room lights up with celebration as Dorothy realizes she has found a true friend in Wally and that her friends have indeed remembered her special day.
You find a spot
The day closes on a warm note, confirming that dreams can align with friendship and memory, even in the smallest moments of celebration. The magic of belief, teamwork, and shared joy leaves Dorothy smiling, Greg Page and the others taking part in the moment in the background, and Wally basking in the satisfaction of a hard-earned win that feels earned not just by skill, but by heart.
