The film opens by revisiting the closing moment of The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later, the classic Alexandre Dumas tale, and it drops us into a world where fate soon tests a new generation. The two musketeers Aramis Igor Starygin and Porthos Valentin Smirnitskiy meet a brutal end in a clash with royal guardsmen, the sort of moment that reshapes a country’s memory. After sensing their deaths, Athos Venyamin Smekhov cannot bear the grief and chooses to end his own life, taking poison in the quiet solitude of his own estate.
