In the grimy depths of Los Angeles, Poindexter “Fool” Williams faces a dire situation with his family as they confront eviction instigated by the mysterious Robesons, who take on the roles of Mommy and Daddy. However, this seemingly caring couple conceals a harrowing truth: they are the abusers of their own daughter, Alice, all while harboring a sinister secret. Fool’s mother is battling cancer, and their financial struggles leave essential medical treatment out of reach. Amidst this chaos, the cunning Leroy entices Fool into a desperate plan to steal in order to gather funds necessary for his mother’s healthcare.

As Fool and Leroy, along with their friend Spenser, break into the Robesons’ home under the guise of municipal workers, they make a shocking discovery: a concealed dungeon lies underneath the floorboards. What they find is chilling—Spenser’s lifeless form surrounded by a group of pale, malnourished children imprisoned in a locked pen. The horrifying return of the Robesons sends Fool into a panic while Leroy succumbs to Daddy’s merciless wrath.

In this mayhem, Fool meets Alice, who divulges the grim reality of her family: the trapped children are victims who defied the household’s unspoken laws, ultimately turning to cannibalism to survive. Another boy, Roach, has managed to escape discovery by hiding within the walls but bears the scars of past rebellion—his tongue cruelly severed. When Fool is captured by the frenzied children, Roach intervenes, giving his life to ensure Fool’s escape, passing him a small pouch of gold coins along with a heartfelt request to save Alice.

Reuniting with Alice, they race through the treacherous passageways while pursued by Daddy’s ferocious Rottweiler, Prince. In a clever twist, Fool tricks Daddy into stabbing Prince, enabling them to reach the attic and a window that leads to a tranquil pond below. Yet, Alice’s paralyzing fear of leaping proves too great, forcing Fool to decide to leave her behind with a promise to return at a later time.
