Echo Score

The Movie Echo Score

55

The Package delivers relentless gross-out humor anchored by a committed young cast but is hampered by a thin and increasingly repetitive premise. Reviews highlight frequent laugh-out-loud moments centered on its absurd premise, along with solid if unsurprising performances from a largely small ensemble. However, critics and audiences note a lack of narrative depth and originality as the central joke wears thin. Overall, the film offers sporadic amusement but falls short of sustained engagement.

Art & Craft

The film’s visual approach is serviceable but never striking. In terms of cinematography, the shots are straightforward and lack distinctive framing, and the production design is functional for its teen-comedy setting. Editing carries the pacing but rarely surprises with creative transitions. Overall, the art and craft remain competent yet unremarkable.

65
Echo Score

Character & Emotion

In terms of character depth, performances are generally solid but rarely delve beyond basic archetypes. The main cast conveys believable camaraderie, and supporting roles add moments of sincerity. However, emotional resonance is limited by predictable motivations and uneven chemistry among some leads. Altogether, the character work is agreeable but lacks substantial nuance.

Echo Score

Story & Flow

In terms of plot coherence, the narrative unfolds around a singular comedic premise that becomes increasingly repetitive. Pacing alternates between brisk gag setups and slower stretches, and originality suffers as the central joke outstays its welcome. Engagement hinges largely on appreciation for gross-out humor rather than narrative complexity. Consequently, the story delivers intermittent amusement but lacks sustained momentum.

60
Echo Score

Sensory Experience

In terms of sensory experience, the soundtrack and sound design underscore the film’s raunchy tone with energetic cues and well-timed effects. Visual style remains consistent with a bright, youth-oriented color palette but offers few memorable flourishes. The overall audio-visual cohesion supports the comedy but does not elevate it beyond standard teen fare. Thus, the sensory elements are effective yet modest.

55
Echo Score

Rewatch Factor

In terms of rewatch value, the film offers a handful of memorable lines and outrageous moments that may entertain repeat viewings. Familiarity with the central gag may diminish its impact, and some jokes feel stale after the initial viewing. Nevertheless, fans of its specific brand of crude humor may revisit it for its standout comedic beats. Overall, the rewatch factor is uneven but serviceable for genre enthusiasts.

Returning from his trip to Germany, Sean Floyd (/actor/daniel-doheny) is excited to embark on a spring break adventure in the woods alongside his friends Jeremy Abelar (/actor/eduardo-franco) and Donnie (/actor/luke-spencer-roberts). Unbeknownst to Sean, Donnie, and the rest of the group, Jeremy has invited his twin sister, Becky Abelar (/actor/geraldine-viswanathan), who has recently split up with her boyfriend Chad (/actor/alexander-calvert), along with her friend Sarah (/actor/sadie-calvano), who previously dated Donnie.

As they settle in, Donnie and Jeremy egg Sean on to pursue his crush on Becky. They assure him that their camping trip will be a smooth and safe experience, despite concerns lingering since it took them six grueling hours to arrive at their destination. Once they reach the campsite, Sean musters the courage to flirt with Becky but is soon sidetracked by Donnie, who drags him off to hassle Jeremy as he’s relieving himself. In a shocking turn of events, Jeremy accidentally injures himself while brandishing a knife, leading to a catastrophic accident that results in him cutting off his own penis.

In a panic, Sean takes charge, gathering all the phones to find a spot with better reception and quickly calls 9-1-1 for help. Adding to the chaos, he mistakenly texts Chad from Becky’s phone in a moment of anger before he inexplicably loses all the devices. When paramedics arrive via helicopter, Sean hands over a cooler—believing it contains Jeremy’s severed member—only for them to later discover that they were mistaken about which cooler contained the right appendage.

Upon arriving at the hospital, a nurse breaks the shocking news to Jeremy that the mix-up has occurred, leaving him feeling disheartened and doubting his friends’ reliability. While attempting to locate a ranger station, the group encounters a snake, and in a comical turn, Becky hurls the cooler at it, only to have the penis ejected and bitten by the venomous creature. After a desperate attempt by Sean to suck out the poison, Sarah’s curiosity leads her to chase a drone, resulting in a mishap where she tumbles into a ravine.

Determined to retrieve Sarah, the rest of the group follows her into the water, where they run into a foul-mouthed 11-year-old boy camping with his dad. The boy attempts to extort them for a boat but is frightened off when talk of severed appendages ensues, allowing the group to steal the vessel. However, their escape is cut short when the boy’s father, convinced of foul play, pursues them and delivers a scare tactic using an arrow.

Upon reaching the hospital to finally return the penis, they learn that a different patient named Redneck Reginald (/actor/blake-anderson) has ended up with Jeremy’s member after the surgery. In a series of unfortunate events, Sean inadvertently updates Becky on the mishap of texting Chad, leading her to call him for a ride home. Meanwhile, Donnie and Sean confront Reginald, who sadly recounts how his girlfriend Sheryl (/actor/sugar-lyn-beard) reacted violently upon discovering his infidelity.

In yet another chaotic twist, Sean and Donnie rush to retrieve the recently delivered organ for Jeremy, only to face off against Sheryl, who cuts off Reginald’s penis once more during a fray. Sean gathers the nerve to apologize to Becky, stating that she deserves far better than someone like Chad. She accepts, and the group, now united, navigates their interpersonal conflicts.

As Jeremy prepares for surgery, Donnie and Sarah reconcile, while Becky and Sean begin to explore their budding relationship. With the tension finally dissipating, they attempt one last effort to ensure Jeremy’s health by delivering the correct severed member to the hospital. As the group prepares to leave, they learn that Jeremy has, in fact, been recovering alongside his new girlfriend, Kendall Jenners, whom his friends had previously doubted existed. To cap off their time together, amid joyous banter, Becky and Sean share a passionate kiss, signaling the start of something new.
