The production follows Grigorovich’s Bolshoi choreography, but it is the only version filmed in widescreen HD, giving the colors vivid clarity. The same—or duplicate—sets and only slightly altered costumes are used. Two small choreography tweaks appear: in Act II the Nutcracker Prince pursues the Mouse King offstage instead of descending through a trapdoor, returning later with the King’s crown.
