The Haunting of the Murder House (2022): Cast & Ratings

In terms of art and craft, the cinematography and production design receive mostly negative feedback, described as amateurish and reminiscent of a student project. A solitary reviewer praises the visual composition, yet this isolated praise does not shift the overall perception. Editing and direction are similarly criticized for lacking polish, resulting in a gritty but ineffective visual presentation.

Character and emotion are cited as a major flaw, with acting repeatedly called terrible and dialogue described as asinine. Reviewers note an absence of depth and chemistry among the cast. Only one comment mentions convincing performances, but this outlier is insufficient to counter the prevailing view that the characters are flat and unengaging.

The story aspect suffers from a weak script, predictable pacing, and lack of originality. Critics label the plot as bland, incoherent, and devoid of genuine suspense. Although a few reviewers acknowledge brief moments of tension, the overall narrative is considered poorly constructed and fails to sustain audience interest throughout the film.

Sensory experience, including sound design and visual cohesion, is largely dismissed as substandard. Reviewers mention overly bright dark scenes and ineffective sound cues, though one source highlights decent blood effects and restrained fear. The mixed remarks do not outweigh the dominant sentiment that the sensory elements do little to enhance the horror atmosphere.

Rewatch factor is viewed very negatively, with many stating the film offers no incentive for a second viewing. The lack of compelling narrative, weak performances, and technical flaws diminish lasting appeal. Even the lone positive assessment of the film's tension does not offset the consensus that the movie is unlikely to be revisited.
