What Is The Great Dan Patch About?
The premise of The Great Dan Patch without spoilers.
David Palmer, a young chemist, returns to his late father’s Indiana farm and marries local schoolteacher Ruth Treadwell. He reunites with his father’s horse‑trainer, Ben Lathrop, whose daughter Cissy has quit school to assist her father. Palmer’s invention makes him wealthy, allowing him to indulge his socially ambitious wife. After his father’s death, he goes back to Indiana, where his love of harness‑racing is rekindled and his attraction to Cissy deepens.
