Brandon, a driven surveyor, dreams of opening a western railway. He and his son Davy set out to chart a route and discover a pass that could cut 200 miles from the planned line. Their progress is halted when a Cheyenne war party ambushes them; a one‑handed white renegade kills and scalps Brandon, leaving Davy alone to continue the quest.
