Based on John Healy’s autobiography, the film follows his harsh upbringing in a devout, abusive household. Forced to defend himself, he later discovers boxing, only to be consumed by alcoholism. After his fighting career ends, he drifts to the Grass Arena—a park of fellow drunks—where prison later offers an unexpected turn toward redemption.
