The film opens with a young woman named Irene Lília Lopes who ends her life in the Forest of Lost Souls, a haunting place that has drawn many who feel they have nothing left to give. Her father, Ricardo Jorge Mota, crushed by grief, ventures into the same woods, hoping to find some answer or absolution for Irene’s death. Ricardo chooses to drink poison offered by Carolina instead of using the knife he had brought, a decision that underscores the forest’s pull and the depth of his despair. As he dies, he mentions Irene, a detail that provokes a cold, cruel mockery from Carolina before she uses the knife to stab him to death. The forest remains silent afterward, its shadows swallowing the end of one life and the beginning of another’s troubling chapter.

Leaving the forest, Carolina discovers Ricardo’s car, whose interior holds his cell phone and a photograph of his daughters Irene and Filipa. With the phone, she crafts a chilling plan: lure Filipa and Joana to Ricardo’s home so she can kill them both. She succeeds in drawing Joana to the house and murders her, staging the body so Filipa will find it. The tension escalates when Carolina stabs Filipa in the back; before she can finish the strike, Filipa’s boyfriend Tiago Tiago Jácome arrives at the door. The distraction gives Filipa enough time to recover, sparking a renewed struggle. The encounter ends badly for Carolina: she shoots Filipa to death and then uses Ricardo’s car to drive away, running over Tiago in the process.

Back in the woods, she disposes of the knife near Ricardo’s body before leaving to attend a music festival with her friends. The film closes with Carolina returning to her day-to-day life, while the news reports that Ricardo took his own life after murdering his daughter Filipa and Tiago, a revelation that casts a chilling pall over the events and leaves the world to infer the full scope of the tragedy.
