Spoilers ahead
Zeus Mario López, a Labrador Retriever and a former police dog, has lost his bark after an incident that derailed a long-running five-year investigation, and his human partner struggles to shoot straight enough to stay in the field, ultimately ending up at the pound. To give the Bannister family a loyal guardian and a touch of Christmas spirit, George Bannister Gary Valentine adopts Zeus as an early present and as a capable watchdog for the house, though Belinda Bannister Elisa Donovan hesitates about inviting a dog into their life. The idea of a four-legged protector is appealing, yet the family dynamic remains a touch fragile until plans for the holidays bring everyone together.
